Are you a workaholic?

How many of the type a personality characteristics do you display? Ask yourself the following questions and tot up the number of times you answer yes.

1.      Do you find it hard to say no when given extra work?

2.      Do you feel that if you want a job done well, you should do it yourself?

3.      Do you work long hours willingly?

4.      Do you take your work home most days?

5.      Do you often think about problems at work when you are at home?

6.      Does your work ever keep you awake at night?

7.      Does your family or friends say they hardly ever see you because you are always working?

8.      Is going on holiday a real hassle because of work commitments either just before or just after vacation?

9.      Do you feel bad and self-critical if things are not going well at work?

10.  Do you become easily irritated or angry over trivial things?

Surprisingly enough, if you have answered yes to just two of the questions above, you are becoming just a little bit too involved with work for you own good and unable to live your life independently around it. You could easily become a workaholic if you are not careful.

If you answered yes to more than three questions, you are already addicted to work. The more yes answers you gave, the more of a workaholic you are. You need to look at what is important for you in your life now, only for the sake of your health and career, but also for your family’s security, and your relationship with your partner and your friends. Ultimately, the career path which you are following and to which you have devoted yourself so obsessively will also soon suffer, if you do not take steps to modify your behavior.
