Relaxing your mind with colour

This is another great technique to help you when your body is exhausted but your mind is racing and you are finding it difficult to wind down.

Allow 20 minutes before you go to sleep. You can use this technique in bed or before you actually get into bed. Just make sure you begin 20 minutes or so before you actually want to go to sleep.

Get into a comfortable position, then close your eyes and begin to breathe very slowly and deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth. Make each circular breath a little longer and deeper than the last, and breathe away ant tension with every slow out-breath. Continue to centre yourself for about five or ten minutes, until your mind is still and quiet, and you feel nicely relaxed.

Them imagine a blue light coming up through up through the soles of your feet, slowly filling your body in the same way a tall glass would fill with water. Feel the blue light relaxing you and calming your mind further. Once the blue light reaches the top of your head and you are immersed in this light, just allow yourself to bathe in the healing colour for a while. Allow yourself to become more and more relaxed at this point, and when you are ready, you can go into a deep, peaceful sleep.

Blue is a very calming colour, and this simple visualisation is a great way to prepare yourself for sleep.
