6 keys to keeping your headache diary

1.      Keep your headache diary for one to four weeks, depending on the frequency of your headaches. Keep it longer if you fine it helps you and makes you feel better.

2.      Review the foods you ate and other eating habits (spacing of meals, for example) up to 72 hours before you experienced each headache,

3.      Review any chances in stress, sleep, exercise, and so on. Changes in daily activities can trigger a migraine, too.

4.      Identify any patterns that may be triggering your headaches.

5.      If you suspect a particular food to be a trigger, eliminate it as best as possible for one to four weeks, depending on the frequency of your headaches, to see if it seems to help.

6.      If eliminating a particular food or drink from your diet seems to help reduce the frequency of your headaches, when it is convenient, try eating it again to see if it triggers one. If it does, you should probably consider avoid that particular food or drink in the future.
