Managing Disappointment



1.      Identify the loss and express how it feels to you.

2.      What would you hope for if you were not afraid of being disappointed again?

3.      Sit with the feelings you have without trying to change them. The reality is that you may not get what you want in this situation. That is disappointing.

4.      Acknowledge reality: Not getting what you wanted is a loss.

5.      Validate you emotions: It is appropriate to feel sad about any loss.

6.      After you have done all of that, think about what you need to move on.
